Walking to Mt KosciuszkoBushwalking

A bushwalk is probably the best way to enjoy the alpine air, spectacular views and the  'Sound of Music'-style scenery. Whether you're up for a gentle meander or full on hike, you'll find a walk that suits in the Snowies.

Mount Kosciuszko and the Main Range

For a bushwalking adventure suitable for everyone, take the Crackenback chairlift from Thredbo to start the walk to Mount Kosciuszko, the country's highest mountain, and walk along the rooftop of Australia. Thredbo's sunrise guided walks are well worth the early wake up call. Alternatively start your walk to Mount Kosciuszko from Charlotte Pass. Mountain bikes can also use this path, but be sure to leave the bike at Rawsons Pass to make the final trek on foot.

More challenging is the seven-hour Main Range walk starting and ending at Charlotte Pass. The walk goes past magnificant glacial lakes and streams, and affords splendid views that stretch all the way to Victoria.
