Cabramurra
Australia's highest town was built by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Authority as a base for the northern administration of the scheme. Today it is a pretty township offering the closest fuel and refreshment base for Selwyn Snowfields and the Elliot Way.
Many years ago, a resident near Cabramurra recorded that eight feet (2.4m) of snow fell in just eight hours.
