TSM OVERVIEW
TSM aims to unite the industry and stakeholders through effective leadership and achieve tourism economic growth by creating opportunities for the region as a whole. This is achieved by strong partnerships with key industry operators, regional and government stakeholders.
TSM provides tourism leadership to the region and its key roles are:
- Represent the whole of tourism industry.
- Develop cooperative partnerships to increase visitation to the snowy mountains.
- To work with Tourism NSW to deliver opportunities for operators.
- To motivate people to come to the Snowies as a destination.
- Work close with private enterprise, communities and all government agencies to enhance opportunities.
- Increase skills/capacity within the tourism sector.

To deliver on this vision TSM’S external focus is:
- Lift and maintain the profile of the Snowy Mountains Region with Federal, State and Local Governments and their agencies to ensure that the Snowy Mountains region is top of mind as tourism destination.
- Be a spokesperson for the Snowy Mountains Region on regional tourism issues.
- Identify and leverage funding opportunities as they arise for the benefit of the Snowy Mountains region.
The operational role is to:
- provide leadership and direction to the regional tourism industry.
- develop and encourage innovative activities including marketing campaigns that maintain brand awareness and encourage increased visitation.
- foster and encourage product development in the region advise, consult and partner with Federal and State Government Agencies, Local Government and major stakeholders to facilitate the growth and sustainability of the region’s tourism economy.

Organisation Structure
A full time Executive Officer, Jo Larkin is TSM’s main driver, reporting directly to the board and working with local industry, tourism managers, Tourism NSW and other key stakeholders to market the destination both domestically and internationally. TSM also employs a part time Administration Assistant
TSM is managed by a 6 member, skills based board and 5 industry representatives. Present at Board meetings is a non voting observer representing Tourism NSW and Industry and Investment NSW.

Nick Kennedy
Nick will bring extensive experience and skills to the board having held a senior corporate role with TourAust Corporation for 14 years that has Constellation Group of hotels and resorts and an extensive sales and marketing background.
He is now director and owner of Guthega Alpine Hotel so brings both expertise and local knowledge to the role.

Jonathan Kobus
Jonathan is currently the Manager of the Product and Industry Development team at Australian Capital Tourism. He joined Australian Capital Tourism in 2003 and has spent the last 7 years working on a range of development and marketing initiatives for the ACT and surrounding region.
Jonathan is Australian Capital Tourism’s lead point of contact for all industry associations in the ACT and works closely with the local industry in the development and facilitation of partnership opportunities to increase visitation to the region. Jonathan also sits on the Capital Country Tourism Development Board, the National Landscapes Steering Committee and has also worked on the Sydney Melbourne Touring strategy.
Prior to joining Australian Capital Tourism, Jonathan worked in eco tourism development in Southern Africa and as a Business Analyst for EDS Australia in Adelaide.

Nick Elliott
Nick has been involved in regional tourism for many years and is currently director of Quality Resort Horizons in Jindabyne. A former graduate of Colorado Mountain College in resort marketing and operations and is a 4th generation resident of the Snowy Mountains with experience in Australian and American ski fields.
Nick is the director of Total Destination Marketing Pty Ltd, the Chair of Lake Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce, member of the Kosciuszko Alpine Way Steering Committee, member of the Jindabyne Central School Council and a former executive member of NSW AHA Board.

David Sheldon
David Sheldon has a background in print media and advertising. David is also a member of the Tumut Region Visitor Centre Board and Riverina Highlands Board.
David brings to the Board extensive marketing, media and small business experience. David’s background includes preparing and implementing marketing plans for Elm Cottage, Capricornia Newspapers and Weekend Coral Coaster.
Through the advertising company that he established, Media Tek Pty Ltd, David has worked with South Mole Island, Lindeman Island and Wanderers Paradise.

Jo Larkin
Jo has a Bachelor of Business in marketing and International Business.
In 2007 Jo received the award for Tourism NSW Young Achiever in Tourism Award.
She has worked for Raw NRG as a mountain bike guide and marketing /events co-ordinator was the journalist with the Snowy Times and Summit Sun for 2 years where she gained an understanding of the local tourism issues involving herself in various community projects and committees to assist the development of local summer tourism.
From 2002 – 2006 she was the Thredbo Chamber of Commerce/ Tourism Thredbo Business and Events Manager with the key role of building economic sustainability year round including organising two major festivals and developing a calendar of summer events.
Jo was the Executive Assistant Manager at Lake Crackenback Resort and in April 2008 started in the role of Executive Officer Tourism Snowy Mountains and continues with the vision to grow year round tourism in the Snowy Mountains and have it recognised as an iconic Australian destination.
Jo is currently on maternity leave and will return to work September 2011. Gary Grant is filling the role of Executive Officer, and Jade Guttridge has a 6 month contract as a Project Officer.
